I'm going to start by saying I don't take a side on this issue. I think the point of the Brady Campaign group's statement is that open-carry weapons make people nervous and intimidated, which could lead to hostile and dangerous situations.

The officer was Timothy Brenton, and he was not a "female officer" as the caption mentions. The training officer who was with him was female, and she only had minor injuries.

Shane may have been a little indignant about the whole situation, but (a) he didn't have a professional obligation to treat others properly, he was just a citizen in a public place and (b) he wasn't threatening others with bodily harm or arrest.

This is a great example why buying super-cheap crap from stores like Walmart that's made in China isn't always the best idea. Most American products have the decent manufacturing oversight to protect us from this.
